Position overview:
Blue Orange Digital is hiring a Senior Databricks Engineer for a discovery and architecture engagement with a global management consulting client. You will own hands-on, end-to-end Databricks pipeline work, investigating and structuring data the client already has and building medallion-layer (bronze/silver/gold) pipelines that hold up to real technical scrutiny.
This is an individual-contributor role with high technical ownership, working alongside a client team that pushes back and expects the same from you.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain end-to-end Databricks pipelines using bronze/silver/gold medallion architecture
Write hands-on data engineering code in Python, SQL, and PySpark, including materialized views
Investigate unfamiliar or undocumented client data and report findings back to the team and client
Participate in technical conversations with the client, holding your own on engineering, data modeling, and governance questions
Support “art of the possible” demo work as the engagement moves into later phases
Requirements:
Hands-on Databricks experience building end-to-end pipelines
Strong Python, SQL, and PySpark skills
Experience implementing materialized views and medallion-layer (bronze/silver/gold) architectures
Comfort investigating unfamiliar data sets independently and communicating clearly what you find
Availability for the full engagement arc, up to 26 weeks if it extends
Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and teammates
