Senior Business Data Analyst
About Blue Orange Digital
Blue Orange Digital is a US-headquartered data engineering and AI consultancy that builds production-grade data platforms, ML systems, and analytics solutions for companies that take their data seriously. We are not a staff augmentation shop or a slide-deck consultancy. We are builders. Our teams embed directly into client engineering and operations organizations, shipping work alongside their teams to accelerate delivery and build lasting capability.
Our clients include Fortune 500 enterprises and high-growth companies across commercial real estate, financial services, healthcare technology, and other data-intensive industries. We partner with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, and Azure to deliver solutions that drive measurable ROI.
Our LATAM team is a core part of how we deliver. Our LATAM analysts and engineers sit on the same engagements as our US team, attend the same client calls, own the same workstreams, and are held to the same delivery standard. This is not back-office work. You will be in front of the client.
Note: Please submit your resume in English, as all application materials must be in English for review and consideration.
Location: Remote, Latin America (Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay, and other LATAM countries considered)
Time Zone: Must overlap a minimum of 6 hours with US Eastern Time
Level: Senior
Service Line: Analytics & BI / Data Strategy / Embedded Delivery
Employment: Full-time contractor
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Business Data Analyst, based in Latin America, who acts as the connective tissue between our US-based clients' business stakeholders and the data they need to run their companies. You will own client engagements end to end: sitting in the (virtual) room with operators and executives, translating their messiest business questions into clean analytical problems, and delivering data products that change how decisions get made.
This is not a ticket-taker role. You will lead engagements. You will set the agenda for client working sessions, push back when requirements are vague, propose better questions than the ones being asked, and own the outcome from discovery through adoption. Our best analysts pair deep SQL and modeling skills with the instincts of a consultant: you read the room, manage the room, and ship work that the room actually uses.
You will also lean hard on AI. We expect every analyst at BOD to be fluent with the current generation of AI tools and to know where they help, where they hurt, and how to apply them responsibly to client work. Analysts who treat AI as an accelerator move three times faster than analysts who do not, and we are building the practice around that reality.
What You Will Do
Lead client-facing discovery sessions in English with US-based operators, analysts, and executives to elicit, document, and prioritize business requirements
Translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical work: data models, dashboards, KPI frameworks, and decision-support tools that get adopted
Write production-quality SQL against Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift, and build trusted models in dbt or the client's modeling layer
Build and maintain dashboards and reporting in Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or the tool the client lives in
Drive proactive analysis: surface trends, anomalies, and opportunities the client did not ask about but needs to see
Apply AI tooling (LLM-based analysis, natural language to SQL, agentic data exploration, AI-assisted documentation) to compress timelines and raise the quality bar on every deliverable
Set the cadence for client communication: status updates, demos, working sessions, and stakeholder reviews, all conducted in English on US business hours
Mentor junior analysts on the engagement and contribute to BOD's analytics playbooks, templates, and internal tooling
What You Bring
5+ years of experience as a business analyst, data analyst, BI analyst, or analytics consultant, with at least 2 years in a client-facing or embedded role with US or English-speaking clients
Professional working proficiency in English, written and spoken, with the comfort to lead workshops, present findings, and push back on stakeholders in real time
Ability to work US business hours with significant overlap to Eastern or Pacific Time
Expert SQL: window functions, CTEs, performance tuning, and the ability to sanity-check your own numbers before anyone else has to
Working fluency with AI tools for analytical work (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, AI features inside BI and SQL tools) and a clear point of view on where they speed you up vs. where they introduce risk
Strong data modeling fundamentals (dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, dbt or equivalent transformation tooling)
Hands-on experience with at least one cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift) and at least one modern BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, Mode)
Demonstrated ability to lead client conversations: running requirements workshops, pushing back constructively, and driving alignment across stakeholders with different priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the judgment to scale your message to the audience in front of you
Bias toward action: you would rather draft a working hypothesis and a v1 dashboard than wait for perfect requirements
Nice to Haves
Domain experience in commercial real estate, financial services, healthcare technology, or insurance
Python for analytical workflows (pandas, notebooks, light scripting against APIs)
Prior experience working as part of a US-based consulting or agency team
Familiarity with data quality frameworks, observability tools, or governance practices
Experience implementing or evaluating AI-native analytics tools (text-to-SQL platforms, AI BI assistants, semantic layers)
Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese in addition to English
What We Offer
Work on diverse, high-impact engagements with US-based Fortune 500 and high-growth clients
Direct access to leading-edge data and AI stacks (Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, Azure)
Builder culture where analysts lead engagements and ship work, not slides
Professional development budget and certification support
Fully remote, with the autonomy of contractor work and the team support of a tight-knit consultancy
Direct collaboration with US team members and clients, not isolated offshore delivery
Salary: $5,833 - $7,500 USD monthly
